Tom (Thomas) Lance moved to Kodiak in 2003 and has most recently supported Sun’aq Tribe of Kodiak citizens for about eight years as Resources Conservationist, Tribal Biologist, and Natural Resources Department Director. He strives to safeguard the Tribe’s subsistence, cultural and economic resources.

Over the last 35+ years, Tom has worked primarily in Alaska and Idaho in the private and governmental sectors. He has experience as a small greenhouse and commercial hydroponics business owner/operator, while working professionally as a consultant and natural resources planner or manager.

His experience and education in soil and water conservation come in part from growing up on a family farm in Minnesota and serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras, Central America. He completed two B.S. degrees in Range/Wildlife Resources, and a M.S. in Range Resources, all at the University of Idaho.
