Kerry Ivory was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. She moved to Colorado as a teen and had her only child there. Kerry came to Kodiak in 1985 for what was supposed to be a two-week vacation. She remained here for 25 years (13 in Kodiak and 12 in Ouzinkie) before moving to Coeur D’Alene Idaho for a time to bond with her 4 beautiful grandchildren. Kerry left Alaska, but Alaska kept calling her back. She returned to Ouzinkie in 2019 and went to work for the Native Village of Ouzinkie, first as bookkeeper and now in her current position as Tribal Administrator. Her position is the hardest and most rewarding adventure she has ever had. She is passionate about bringing new opportunities to the Native Villages of Kodiak Island without undermining the culture. Kerry Joined the KALI board and hopes to continue having a positive impact on not only her community of Ouzinkie, but also on the Islands other communities. She passionately believes that our Tribal Communities are stronger together and hopes to work with all community leaders to improve the outlook for our villages.

“Economic opportunity should not come at the cost of a way of life. We need to find a way to merge these opportunities with existing lifestyles, not the other way around.”
